About

Liz at Fossil Butte National Monument

I am currently a Research Scientist at the Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca, New York, U.S.A. My Google Scholar page is here

I became interested in fossils as a child due to an interest in dinosaurs and was able to look for fossils near my home when I lived in southern Colorado for a short time. I have since been to the field in Montana and Kansas excavating or prospecting for vertebrate fossils and have searched for fossil plants in North Dakota and Patagonia, Argentina. My travels have taken me around the United States and the world.

I received my B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999 and my Ph.D. from Cornell University in 2005. I had two postdoctoral positions, one in the Taylor lab at the University of Kansas and the second in the Gandolfo lab at Cornell University. I worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Plant Biology at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, from 2012 to 2018. I joined PRI in 2018.
